The city's unemployment rate stood at 7.2 per cent in October - down slightly from the month before - while the number of people holding down jobs remained above 50,000, according to Statistics Canada Labour Force Survey numbers released Friday.
The number unemployed but looking for work totaled 3,900, a 200-person decrease from September.
The figures are almost identical to those from October 2010, when the unemployment rate was also 7.2 per cent, 50,000 were working and 3,900 were seeking employment.
