University of Northern British Columbia's reputation as Canada's Green University has received a major boost.
The Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) has awarded UNBC a top honour for its work on establishing and promoting bio-energy on the campus.
UNBC president George Iwama was in Denver, Colorado on Monday to accept the award and at a noontime celebration he entered the Wintergarden holding high the plaque - a certificate on a shiny particle board backing - generating a loud round of applause.
"This is yours," said Iwama.
