UNBC student wins scholarship

A local UNBC student has won a $2,000 scholarship, one of 11 2014 Envision Financial Education Awards. Angela Kehler, an Envision Financial member, won the award for her outstanding scholastic ability along with her community volunteer service.

A local UNBC student has won a $2,000 scholarship, one of 11 2014 Envision Financial Education Awards.

Angela Kehler, an Envision Financial member, won the award for her outstanding scholastic ability along with her community volunteer service.

Kehler is pursuing her degree in environmental studies and political science. She is a member of the Rated PG Roller Girls roller derby team and an academic representative for the Northern Undergraduate Student Society at UNBC. Kehler is a founding member of the Borrow a Mug program at the university, which encourages students to cut down on waste.

"We're pleased to recognize the hard work and dedication that Angela has shown to both her education and her community," Susan Byrom, manager of community investment at Envision Financial said in a press release. "She's a great example of an up-and-coming community leader and we hope this education award will help her in her education journey."
