There's more news involving UNBC in Prince George.
An email to staff provided by the post-secondary school to PrinceGeorgeMatters says Dr. Daniel Weeks is taking a medical leave, which will be effective immediately.
"I’m writing today to provide a personal update," he writes.
"The situation requires that I take a medical leave, effective immediately. I am dealing with some matters that I have put on hold for many, many weeks, but on the advice of my physician, I should no longer delay dealing with them.[...] The duration of this leave is unknown at this point."
While Weeks steps away, Dr. Geoff Payne will serve as Acting President and handle all duties assigned to Weeks.
The news comes as a non-confidence motion was tabled against Weeks at a Senate meeting on Jan. 22.
It was presented by Dr. Peter Jackson, a teacher at UNBC.
It's unclear if the notice will now go to the Senate Steering Committee for consideration as planned at the next formal Senate meeting, which is currently scheduled for Feb. 26.
