Virtual learners can now turn to continuing studies at UNBC for courses.

UNBC unveiled its Environmental Monitoring program this week and plans to add online courses in Occupational Health and Safety as well as Fitness Leadership.

The online approach includes video modules to augment the same material that would be covered during in-person classes.

The director of ancillary services called the online platform an important avenue of growth for the university.

"It provides a flexible learning medium for students and is rich in video," said Aaron LeBlanc in a press release. "It marks a significant opportunity for individual students or industries with training needs to connect with us. We are now primed to offer a wide range of learning mediums for students and industry alike."

The new course will focus on theory and practical components for environmental monitoring, which covers environmental assessments of the impact of industrial activities.

It's an at-your-own-pace approach, but should take students about 60 hours to complete.
