The University of Northern British Columbia's Faculty Association has rejected the employers' latest offer but the sides remained at the table Tuesday in an effort to reach an agreement and stave off a strike.
The UNBC FA issued 72 hours strike notice on Monday, putting them in a position to take to the picket lines on Thursday morning.
Also on Monday, administration presented the UNBC FA with an offer and a deadline to accept or reject by 4 p.m.
The offer was turned down, UNBC FA vice president Paul Siakaluk said in an email but added he understands the sides went back to the bargaining table and were still there.
UNBC FA president Stephen Rader provided confirmation.
"We’re talking as we speak... which is progress," Rader said in an email.
UNBC communication director Matt Wood also said the sides are in negotiatons.
"I’m afraid I don’t have any other details at this point," he added in an email.
- The Faculty Association will be holding a rally in the Wintergarden on Wednesday at noon.
