UPDATE: Highway 97 fully re-opens following two-truck collision north of Prince George

Commuters can now enter or exit Prince George on a smoother road.

Highway 97 has completely re-opened north of the city after a two-truck collision forced its closure for almost 10 hours.

The incident occurred near the Wright Creek Bridge in the Salmon Valley.

No serious injuries were reported by RCMP.

10:30 a.m.

Highway 97 is now open to single lane alternating traffic north of Prince George.

An early morning collision involving a logging truck and a tractor trailer resulted in the road's closure around 6:05 a.m.

Police reported no injuries from the incident.

Commuters are asked to drive with caution as crews continue to remove debris and traffic teams are patrolling the area.

Drive BC estimates the highway will fully open this afternoon.

7:30 a.m.

Prince George RCMP are tending to a crash north of the city this morning.

Around 6:05 a.m., police say a logging truck and transport trailer collided with each other along Highway 97 near the Wright Creek Bridge in the Salmon Valley.

No serious injuries have been reported, but the highway has been closed in both directions as a result of the incident.

Both trucks have been severely damaged and RCMP are working to clear the area as soon as possible.

Tow trucks and highway personnel are also on scene.
