A surveillance operation gave Prince George police the information they needed to bust two suspected drug traffickers in a car, then search two homes where five more arrests were made.
The flurry of activity happened on Tuesday after the city detachment's Crime Reduction Team had been watching a black Volkswagen Jetta during the morning.
At 11:30 a.m. the members of this specialist unit pulled the vehicle over in the alleyway between Quince Street and Victoria Street.
"During the vehicle check a significant quantity of methamphetamine as well as smaller amounts of cocaine and MDMA (more commonly known as Ecstasy) were seized," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass.
One of those handcuffed in the alley was a 29-year-old female, the other was Sean Kenneth Broadley, 36.
"Evidence located during the traffic stop led the Crime Reduction Team to obtaining two search warrants for residences in Prince George," Douglass said. The Crime Reduction Team called in the assistance of the city's Drug Section and Serious Crime Section for the searches of the homes, one located in the 1400 block of Nation Crescent and one in the 2600 block of Norwood Street.
"Officers located more illicit drugs and drug trafficking paraphernalia," Douglass said. "Five other persons were arrested as a result of these warrants."
So far Broadley is the only one charged. He is facing three counts of drug trafficking. Police expect more charges to be laid from this incident.
"The Prince George RCMP would like to thank those concerned citizens of Prince George who have provided drug trafficking information to the police," Douglass said. "Without community support, it would be more difficult to obtain this type of positive results."
