The BC Prosecution Service has approved charges against two Prince George residents after they assaulted a bus driver last night (Jan. 28).

Prince George RCMP were called to UNBC’s campus around 5:30 p.m. as the man was described as drunk and ‘unruly,’ while reportedly harassing other people on a transit bus.

The driver was assaulted by the two passengers after they were asked to get off the bus, prompting everyone to get off and call police.

The man and woman were walking away when police arrived on scene and as one officer tried to arrest the man, he resisted, forcing more officers to be called in.

“The officer was assaulted during the incident, but managed to effect the arrest with the assistance of a second officer that arrived to assist,” reads an RCMP release.

“The female also resisted arrest, but was swiftly taken into custody.”

The first officer assaulted in the incident went to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Geoffrey David Lamb (30) of Prince George has been charged with the following:

  • Assault police officers
  • Resist arrest
  • Uttering threats
  • Causing a disturbance

Marsha Michelle Lewis (29) of Prince George has been charged with:

  • Assault
  • Cause disturbance

Both appeared in court today and were released until their next court date which is scheduled for Feb. 26, 2020.
