Two Prince George flights added to COVID-19 exposures list

A pair of Prince George flights bound for Vancouver have been alerted for COVID-19 exposure this evening (Dec. 23).

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) says passengers on a second Air Canada/Jazz plane in as many days may have come into contact with someone who tested positive for the virus on Dec. 18.

The first four rows on flight 8208 to YVR are affected.

Meanwhile, a WestJet aircraft with service from YXS to YVR on Dec. 19, flight number 3290, may have impacted passengers in rows 14 through 20.

These are the 21st and 22nd flights marked for COVID-19 exposure involving Prince George since the pandemic reached the region in March.

Since March 27, passengers seated near a case of COVID-19 that was recognized after arrival are no longer being directly notified of their potential exposure, but are asked to check online and monitor their symptoms.

  • Aug. 24 = Flair Air flight 8711 from Prince George to Edmonton - rows 26 to 32
  • Oct. 13 = Flair Air flight 8187 from Prince George to Edmonton - rows 10 to 16
  • Oct. 18 = Air Canada flight 8209 from Vancouver to Prince George - rows eight to 14

As of this publication (Dec. 23), Northern Health has recorded 1,651 cases of COVID-19, including 16 deaths.

There are currently 18 people admitted into critical care among 51 total hospitalizations and 1,152 recoveries.
