More road work will be done by the City of Prince George starting today.

Pacific Street is where the first of next two municipal projects will get underway. Pacific Street road rehabilitation consists of 1 km of improvement work starting from 200 meters north of Sintich Road and ending 700 meters north of Sintich Road. It is a one-day project worth $85,000.

The second project is improvements to Quinn Street and that starts Sunday, also expected to be done in a single day. This work will rehabilitate a little over half a kilometre from 18th Ave. to 22nd Ave. for an investment of $111,000.

"Council has identified road rehabilitation as a priority project in the City of Prince George strategic plan", said Mayor Dan Rogers. "We have committed a record amount to road rehabilitation this year to ensure we continue and meet service level standards."

During budget deliberations, Council approved a $215,000 increase to the city's road rehabilitation levy, which, combined with $550,000 from the Capital Expenditure Reserve brought the total expenditure on Road Rehabilitation this year to a record amount of nearly $3.4 million. Thirteen projects, totaling nearly $3.4 million, have been identified as capital paving projects for 2010.
