Two Fort St. James men were killed early Saturday morning when their car went off Highway 27 just north of Vanderhoof.
The 27-year-old driver and his 25-year-old passenger were found dead at the scene at Bear Club Forest Service Road and Echo Lake Road. Names of the victims were not provided as of Monday.
Called to the scene at 2 a.m., RCMP found a sedan overturned in a ditch with the two inside.
"At this time, investigators believe the vehicle hit a power pole, causing it to flip off the roadway," RCMP said. "Speed and alcohol are believed to have been contributing factors to the collision."
The highway was closed while the investigation was undertaken and BC Hydro replaced the downed power pole. The highway did not fully reopen until Sunday afternoon.
