Prince George RCMP are waiting for the Federal Prosecution Service of Canada to approve specific charges for two men in their arrests for drug trafficking last week.

According to Mounties, two homes off 15th Avenue were the subjects of police raids as part of ongoing investigations on the night of Thursday, Nov. 21 that led to the arrests of a 34-year-old man and a 28-year-old man.

RCMP Street Crew Unit’s seized several items with the help of the North District RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the local Police Dog Service, including more than a kilogram of cocaine and methamphetamine, a handgun, ammunition and a large amount of cash.

The first arrest took place at a home on Garvin Street off 15th Avenue, west of Highway 97, while the second came at a residence on 2900-block, 15th Ave. on the east of the highway.

Both suspects were released without charge as the investigation continues and charges are waiting for approval.

The ERT was called in on the arrest due to safety concerns as local RCMP is ‘committed to enforcement and prevention initiatives that combat the possession and sale of drugs in the community.’
