Fire crews rushed to FMC of Canada Ltd. when a fire and chemical incident happened there Friday morning.

At about 8:40 a.m. three fire halls dispatched 15 firefighters and their trucks to the chemical plant on PG Pulp Mill Road. They knew, en route, that two people had been injured so far.

"On arrival crews found the fire had been extinguished by onsite personnel, and the two patients were being attended to by an onsite first aid person for minor injuries," said Prince George Fire-Rescue Service assistant chief Drew Larsen.

"There was a large amount of hydrogen peroxide lost, however all product was contained to the site and the leak was isolated and the lost product was diluted with water," Larsen said.

Fire crews remained on scene until all hazards were eliminated and then returned to hall by about 10:30 a.m.
