Emergency crews had their hands full with two area crashes over the weekend.
A call around midnight Sunday sent Mackenzie RCMP to a single-vehicle crash on Morfee Mountain Road where no one was injured and victims were hard to find.
At the scene where the vehicle apparently failed to negotiate a turn on a gravel road, police found a 47 year old male passenger and his six-year-old son.
The child was uninjured; the father was taken to UHNBC. Police were then told there were three additional occupants of the vehicle, who had left the scene.
About 100 meters away from the scene, police discovered an intoxicated, uncooperative 41 year old male passenger. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
After calling in search and rescue personnel and a police dog, Mackenzie police spotted the remaining two occupants, including what is believed to be the driver, Sunday afternoon, as they walked along the road. The 45 year old male, who is the alleged driver, and 20 year old female were both suffering non-life threatening injuries.
The male was arrested and charges are pending, said Const. Lesley Smith. Police believe alcohol and speed were contributing factors in the accident.
On Friday, one person was injured after a car rolled down an eight-metre embankment and burst into flames east of Prince George.
The crash occurred about 2:50 p.m. on Highway 16, approximately 50 kilometres east of the city.
The driver, who was the only person in the car at the time of the crash, was able to escape the burning vehicle and was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.
Highway 16 was closed for 45 minutes while members of the Fort George Highway Rescue Department worked to extinguish the burning vehicle.
Further information about the cause of the single-vehicle crash and the condition of the driver was unavailable as of press time.
