Two crashes in same Hart Highway spot

For the second time in the past two weeks, emergency personnel were called to a collision on the Hart Highway at Nordic Drive. "It was almost like seeing the same crash all over again," said one witness to both incidents. The first happened on Aug.

For the second time in the past two weeks, emergency personnel were called to a collision on the Hart Highway at Nordic Drive.

"It was almost like seeing the same crash all over again," said one witness to both incidents.

The first happened on Aug. 18, and the second on Wednesday afternoon.

It is also only about four streets south of a crash incident involving a car and bicycle rider at the intersection of the Hart Highway and Estavilla Drive on June 21.

"It is not an issue we have noticed," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass. "What we can do is review our case files to spot any similarities in the circumstances but so far, the two at Nordic Drive appear to only be coincidence. We do play a role sometimes in changing the engineering of a road or adding signage if that is necessary but so far this doesn't point to any strong measures being needed."

The Wednesday incident, said Douglass, was still not even filed by the attending personnel. There were injuries sustained when a pickup and car hit each other, but the extent of the injuries and the causal factors were not known as of press time.
