Two teenaged girls were found dead in B.C., police announced Thursday, both under suspicious circumstances.

On Wednesday (Jan. 26) afternoon, police discovered a 17-year-old Burns Lake girl dead in a home on Uncha Mountain Road RCMP are treating the death as suspicious.

A police release stated they received a call about an unconscious girl about 3:45 p.m. and upon arrival determined the girl was dead.

The scene was cordoned off and the forensic identification section was called in. A thorough examination of the scene is still underway.

BC Coroner Services also attended the site. A forensic autopsy has been ordered to assist in determining the exact cause of the death.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time. Victim services are assisting family and friends.

The investigation remains active and on-going and police encourage anyone with information to call the Burns Lake RCMP at 250-692-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

And on Thursday (Jan. 28), an exhaustive search that included a team of up to 100 members ended in the tragic discovery of a woman's body believed to be that of a missing 18-year-old Duncan woman.

North Cowichan-Duncan RCMP believe the body found in a wooded area is Tyeshia Jones who was last seen in the early morning hours of Jan. 22 and reported missing shortly after.

Tyeshia was last heard from through a text message around 3 a.m. to her friend saying she was walking to the Superstore in Duncan to meet a friend.

The First Nations girl never showed up and was not heard from again.

Police suspect the involvement of foul play. Official confirmation of identity, and cause of death, is pending with the BC Coroners Service now involved.

Police have cordoned off a large area of land bordering Indian Road. The examination is expected to take several days, given its scope and complexity of the terrain of ravines, wooded area and Cowichan River.

Jones's family have been notified of the discovery, and officers remain with the family pending official confirmation of identity.
