After two attempted child abductions Tuesday, a 35-year-old Prince George man, originally from Fort St. James, is in custody.
Prince George RCMP responded to a call of a disturbance at a playground at 12th Ave. and Harper St.
Police were told a man and a woman were fighting and the man was assaulting the woman.
It turns out the man had tried to abduct a child from the playground and the female had intercepted.
As police arrived, the man tried to flee on foot but was arrested at a neighbouring baseball field.
Shortly after that arrest, police got another call about another attempted abduction just a few blocks away at Eighth Ave. and Gillett St.
A man had grabbed a young boy who was with his mother. The mom managed to get her son back from the man and she fled to her residence with her son and then called police.
This occurred a few minutes before the first call to police and the suspect fit the description of the man who is now in custody.
RCMP continue to investigate.
Several charges will likely be laid against the man in custody who will be identified once Crown Counsel approves the charges.
Anyone who witnessed these incidences and anyone with surveillance video is asked to call police at 250-561-3300.
