The Prince George Literacy Outreach Program will hold a special speakers day for the public to attend during its Train the Tutor program.
The program trains those who want to teach adults to read and help raise literacy skills in the community.
The special day on Jan. 20 in the McGregor Room, Coast Inn of the North, begins at 9 a.m. with speaker, Milly Saville of Vantage Vision and Reading, who will talk about vision as a barrier to learning.
Tim Dixon, counsellor at Baldy Hughes Therapeutic Community and Addiction Treatment Centre, will speak on addiction and literacy at 10:15 a.m.
Sandra Small of Prince George Nechako Aboriginal Employment and Training Association will share "Essential Skills" at 11:10 a.m.
Kim Dixon of the B.C. Schizophrenia Society will speak on mental health as a barrier to learning at 1 p.m.
Marvene Layte, certified life skills instructor, will talk about tools and setting boundaries for tutors at 2:45 p.m.
