The case of the hot-tub shooting is now closed.

Last week, conservation officers were called to a site on Lynx Lake Road where a pair of hot tubs had been set up for target practice in an area commonly used as an unofficial shooting range.

The source of the tubs - Eden Spas - agreed to clean up the site after being told there was the possibility the company could be charged with illegal dumping.

"We took full responsibility for what we did," said Matthew Vigue, store manager of Eden Spas.

He said an employee had requested to use the old, used tubs as target practice, triggering a situation he characterized as a "misunderstanding."

"He's obviously been educated about the consequences and there will be no disciplinary action," said Vigue.

On Thursday, conservation officer Todd Hunter told the Citizen no further action would be taken against the firm. He said they had issued a warning, but no fine.
