Trustees approve community use agreement for Valemount

School board trustees approved Tuesday night a 10-year extension of an agreement allowing community access to school gyms and fields in Valemount at no cost to the users.

School board trustees approved Tuesday night a 10-year extension of an agreement allowing community access to school gyms and fields in Valemount at no cost to the users.

The agreement was originally reached after the community raised almost $250,000 to provide up to 120 square metres of additional space at the new Valemount secondary school, which opened in 2005.

From September to June, the community will get access to the elementary school gym during Monday to Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

At the secondary school, it's from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Monday to Thursday, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.

The fields are open Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on weekends, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
