Trish Bella can put her reelection campaign engine to rest, for at least another year.
Bella has won a full seat on the B.C. School Trustees Association's board of directors, successfully extending a term of office that began in February when she won a byelection.
Trustees were elected to the provincial board during meetings in Vancouver.
Bella is the first trustee from north of Lilloet to serve on the provincial board since former SD57 chair Bill Christie was elected six years ago.
"For northern schools it's really nice to have representation, the voice from the North, it just adds that piece of diversity," said Bella.
"I've had a lot of feedback from trustees in the larger boards in the Lower Mainland saying this is great to have that more rural district voice, bringing my experience in a northern board right to the forefront.
" Rather than just having the board travel through and getting a snapshot, you have somebody here that's living it."
The seven-member provincial board is elected annually by trustees in the province's 60 school boards to represent the trustees and advocate for school boards in dealing with the provincial government, the public, and other partners in education. The board provides trustees with legal council, professional development and communications advice.
