Prince George RCMP spent late-Friday morning and the early afternoon guiding traffic through Fifth and Central after a tractor trailer knocked over a pole carrying a street light and a traffic light.

Investigators believe the truck's driver had intended to turn south onto Central from the east bound land on Fifth but missed the turning lane and then tried to make the turn after the meridian but hit the pole.

"Damage consistent to the collision was found on the right side of the trailer," Prince George RCMP Cst. Craig Douglass said.

The driver, a 30 year-old man from Vancouver was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act and police said the trailer was not insured. Both the truck and the trailer were registered to companies in Surrey.

Police and a clean up crew were called to the scene at about 10:40 a.m.

Anyone with information about this collision, is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-TIPS (8477), online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca, or Text-A-Tip to CRIMES using keyword "pgtips".
