HIghway 16 was down to single-lane alternating traffic 40 kilometres west of McBride for much of Thursday as a crew worked to recover a commercial vehicle that went off the road.

The truck was heading west when the driver lost control at about midnight while going uphill on the west side of the Goat River, a Transportation Ministry spokesperson said. Police were not called to the scene.

The work was expected to finish Thursday afternoon, according to the ministry's DriveBC website, and drivers were being asked to drive cautious and keep their eyes out for flag people at the scene.
