Three Albertans are in custody after police responded to a report of an assault at a South Fort George home and ended up uncovering a trove of drugs and weapons.

Called to the scene at Royal Crescent early Tuesday afternoon, RCMP found three marijuana plants, quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine and dried marijuana, drug trafficking paraphernalia, two machetes, a set of nun-chucks, several knives, two shotguns with ammunition, a prohibited handgun, two laptops and items believed to be used to make fraudulent identification.

As well, a stolen vehicle from Alberta was located in the driveway.

A woman, Dana Louise Funk, 24, was found inside the home and, with the help of a dog and handler, police tracked three men who had escaped out of a window before RCMP arrived, to a wooded area near the home.

Jason Paul Mathany, 31, has been charged with assault, possession of stolen property over $5,000, three counts of careless storage of a firearm and six counts of possession of a firearm without a licence.

Charles Dalton Darling, 48, has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000.

And Funk has been charged with three counts of careless storage of a firearm and six counts of possession of a firearm without a licence.

The third man was released without charges.

All three are from Calgary. Mathany and Funk recently moved to Prince George.

The Prince George RCMP's street crew unit is now leading the investigation and more charges may be pending.

All three remain in custody as of Friday.
