A Fort St. John man charged with second-degree murder in the death of Amanda Black will return to court next month to set a trial date.
The matter, however, will be heard in Prince George on May 9, while lawyers figure out how much time is required for the trial.
Shane Sutherland made a brief appearance in Fort St. John Supreme Court on Tuesday morning, with the matter expected to proceed as a jury trial, court heard. Next month's hearing was moved from Fort St. John due to a lack of available court dates.
Sutherland was arrested in February 2021 after RCMP were called to the Village St. John townhome complex on 102 Avenue where Black was found deceased.
He is charged with second-degree murder, and the charge has yet to be proven in court. He remains in custody.
