A B.C. Supreme Court trial began Monday for four men accused of assaulting two other men at the Prince George Correctional Centre slightly more than a year ago.
Jeremy James Aldred, Aaron James Morin, Jonathan Kyle Relkey, and Christopher Ryan Russell each face a count of aggravated assault.
Three of the four also face charges of assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
It's alleged that on April 1, 2014, Aldred lured one of the victims into a laundry room after complaining about the "big guys using up all the milk in the cafeteria" and was punched in the face and jaw by Russell while Relkey stood guard outside the door.
It's also alleged that on the next day, Russell struck another inmate, accused of being a police officer, after the four had tried unsuccessfully to push him into his cell.
The case is expected to centre on identifying the culprits and surveillance video from the main areas of the living unit, which held 38 inmates at the time, will be shown at the trial.
The two victims and three PGRCC guards are among the witnesses scheduled to testify.
The trial is being held before judge alone.
