A trial began Thursday at the Prince George courthouse for a man accused of murdering his stepfather in a Granisle home six years ago.
Robert Arthur Vernon Reeves, 42, is alleged to have stabbed Brian Fraser Baker, 61, to death on the evening of April 26, 2009 in a Morrison Street home where the two, as well as Reeves' mother, had been living.
The Crown is expected call 12 to 14 witnesses over the next three weeks and much of the testimony will involve presenting recordings of interviews Reeves gave police following his arrest as well as testimony from expert witnesses, including a blood pattern analyst.
Reeves' mother, Vivian Baker, is also scheduled to take the stand late next week.
The B.C. Supreme Court trial before a seven-man, five-woman jury began with an RCMP investigator presenting video and photos of the home.
And some were graphic as images of Baker's blood soaked body lying on the floor of an office were shown. The photos also depicted blood stains on the room's carpet, wall and ceiling.
Photos were also shown of two knives, one found in a downstairs laundry sink and another in a downstairs computer room both with red stains on them.
Red stains were also found on a telephone cord in the home's living that appeared to have been cut. Cords linked to a computer in the office where Baker's body was found also had red stains on them and appeared to have been cut, the court was told.
Home to slightly less than 400 people, Granisle is located 326 kilometres west of Prince George.
