United Way of Northern B.C.'s Tree of Lights campaign reached its goal.

In all, $25,004 was raised, the agency said Thursday. The proceeds will go towards mental health supports in the Prince George area.

The campaign centred on a 60-foot-tall tree placed atop Coast Prince George Hotel by APA over the holiday season. For each dollar raised, a light on the tree was lit.

The goal of raising $25,000 was achieved after the campaign was extended into the new year.

"We cannot express our gratitude enough for the generous contributions made by so many people and organizations that made the Tree of Lights such a success," said UWNBC interim executive director Trista Spencer.

"To have achieved our $25,000 goal speaks directly to the compassion and generosity of the people in Prince George."
