The Salvation Army will kick off the Tree of Lights campaign with a breakfast Friday at the Coast Inn of the North from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. for a $5 donation.

The Tree of Lights is a fundraising effort unique to Prince George and has been a successful addition to the fundraising efforts for the local branch of the Salvation Army, said Capt. Neil Wilkinson of the Salvation Army.

"We have set a $50,000 goal for the Tree of Lights this year," said Wilkinson.

Each donation of $5 will light up a bulb.

"It's a really really wonderful way to not only affect change for those in need in the community but a big tree up on the roof of the Coast Inn of the North is a just a beautiful addition to our downtown area," he said.
