The Quinn Street transfer will be switching over to summer hours starting Friday.

It will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

On Victoria Day, Labour Day and Thankgiving, it will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed on B.C. Day and Canada Day.

The hours will be in effect until October 31 and represent longer openings compared to the winter hours. The step will help ease congestion while physical distancing measures remain in place, Fraser-Fort George Regional District waste diversion programs manager Laura Zapotichny said.

Those using the facility, as well as any other transfer station or landfill in the FFGRD are asked to maintain a distance of two metres from each other and from staff, avoid unnecessary trips by making the most of curbside recycling services and holding off on disposing of items like old fridges, tires or yard waste when possible.

They can also expect long lineups, especially on weekends as social distancing means fewer vehicles and people being allowed onto the sites.
