Police are investigating after a CN Rail freight train struck debris that appeared to have been deliberately placed  across the track on the Nechako River Bridge near Fraser Lake.

Police are investigating after a CN Rail freight train struck debris that appeared to have been deliberately placed  across the track on the Nechako River Bridge near Fraser Lake.
The train was traveling at about 65 km/h when it hit the items, which police determined were left at the scene on Thurs., Apr. 29, between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m.

The collision "could have caused the train to derail, placing the crew’s lives in jeopardy and causing significant damage to property and the environment had this been the result."

Exactly what was left on the tracks was not disclosed.
