A fire in a Prince George trailer park early Tuesday morning has claimed at least one life.
Prince George Fire Rescue said one person died and another remains unaccounted for following the blaze at College Heights Trailer Park on O'Grady Road.
In all, 16 firefighters from three halls were called to the scene at about 4 a.m. where they found the home fully involved, "with heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the dwelling."
Crews were able to protect a neighbouring trailer home from further damage due to heat exposure but the blaze compromised the floor joists and roof supports in the trailer of origin, forcing fire fighters to remain outside the building until most of the fire was extinguished.
Bystanders said two people may have been in the home. One victim was located inside the trailer and one remains missing.
As of 7:30 a.m., crews remained at the scene extinguishing remaining hot spots and investigators from Prince George Fire Rescue, the RCMP, and the coroner's office will be digging through the debris later Tuesday.
No estimate of damage was available.
