An 18-year-old bull rider was killed Friday evening at the Valemount rodeo when he was stepped on by a bull after being bucked off
The victim Makwala Derickson-Hall, Valemount RCMP said, a member of the Okanagan First Nation in the Westbank-Oliver area.
About 200 people were looking on when the mishap occurred shortly before 8 p.m. on the first day of the three-day event in the town of about 1,500 people 285 kilometres west of Prince George.
The B.C. coroners service is investigating.
