The province handed $1.2 million in trades funding to the College of New Caledonia Monday to buy new equipment.
That equipment will go to the metal fabrication, heavy duty mechanical trades, industrial
mechanic, power engineering and electrical programs.
Prince George MLA's Mike Morris Shirley Bond were at the announcement in Prince George.
"CNC is proud to work with government to create opportunities for students across our campuses to gain access to tools that will help them in their journey to career success," said CNC president Henry Reiser in a statement. "This equipment will prepare students by giving them the skills employers look for and by enhancing their experiential learning, which
reinforces a deeper understanding of the program."
The college is buying a hydro-static transmission trainer for the heavy duty program, and a turbine and generator set for the power engineering program.
CNC has also received $200,000 to support people with disabilities to access jobs and $72,000 for trades discovery programs with a goal of introducing high-school students and young adults to trades careers.
