The head of Tourism Prince George will be leaving at the end of June, after less than two years in the job.

Tourism P.G. announced CEO Tracey McBride's resignation on Thursday. McBride took the position in January 2020, right before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It was a difficult decision, as the board, the staff at Tourism Prince George and the people of Prince George have been incredible during these crazy, unprecedented times,” McBride said in a press release. “It has been a challenging, but very rewarding, experience with the warmth of the people and business community of Prince George. I will never forget the spirit of the community. However, I have had to review some of my family’s realities during this time and make some decisions that best align with those needs for the future."

Under her leadership, the organization launched a rebranded website and revised its five-year plan.

"This positions the city of Prince George for some great opportunities post-pandemic," McBride said.

Tourism board chairperson Paul Robison thanked McBride for her short time with the organization.

“Tracey joined Tourism Prince George prior to the pandemic and has steered the organization and staff through some very challenging times with professionalism, compassion and strength,” Robison said. “She has increased our organizational capacity with new energy, creativity and processes that have positioned Tourism Prince George well for the future.”
