Tourism conference comes to PG

Over 100 tourism industry delegates are in Prince George to talk about the the latest trends in the industry. The Northern B.C. Tourism Association kicked off its annual conference on Monday.

Over 100 tourism industry delegates are in Prince George to talk about the the latest trends in the industry.

The Northern B.C. Tourism Association kicked off its annual conference on Monday. The conference continues today and will include the presentation of the new Northern Tourism Awards.

"We are excited and energized by the collaboration we have with our partners, and look forward to sharing great information and tools to them," Northern B.C. Tourism CEO Anthony Everett said. "We're taking a fresh look at the concept of travel, and using new means to connect with both travelers and our tourism partners."

Some of the high-profile presenters at the conference include Globe and Mail travel writer and Word Travels TV show host Robin Esrock; national tourism expert Dr. Nancy Arsenault; Smithers-based travel writer Matt Simmons and long-time president of the Kootenay Rockies Tourism Association Chris Dadson.

"The board and staff are excited to take a fresh look at how we deliver our message in an environment that offers us ever increasing ways to communicate through technology and new media," Northern B.C. Tourism chairperson Victoria Olmstead said.
