The BC Coroner Services has completed an autopsy of 15-year-old murder victim Loren Leslie in Kamloops, however another level of investigation has just begun.
A top forensics team at a Pennsylvania university have been asked to lend their expertise, according to Loren's father Doug Leslie.
"They said they couldn't complete it there (in Kamloops)," said Leslie. "So they released her body to me. I had to give the permission to send her on to a university in Pennsylvania where they have the best forensic department in the world."
A BC Coroner Services spokesperson told The Citizen Monday that Loren's autopsy had been completed and her body had been released to her family. Nothing was released about the findings from the autopsy.
"They will release the results to me, so until that happens I will have nothing else to say about the autopsy," said Leslie.
Loren's body will come home next week "and I don't know what will happen after that," he said.
Meanwhile, the news of the Nov. 27 murder has reached around the world.
"I knew this would hit the world because she was an angel, and it has. I've heard from a cousin in China, and people in Germany, Indonesia and the United States," said Leslie.
He said he can provide no insight into just what could have occurred on the night she was killed.
Cody Legebokoff, 20, of Prince George has been charged with her murder after a suspicious vehicle was stopped north of Vanderhoof on that night, and the following of tire tracks into an unused logging road led to her body.
Leslie does not know the suspect, but he responded to remarks from Fort St. James educators that Legebokoff graduated from high school and was involved in sports like most boys his age.
"Well, I doubt that Robert Olson looked different from others at that age either."
Leslie had high praise for the RCMP's handling of the case.
"They were so good, so professional and so personal. They did every single thing right."
He said he was overwhelmed by Loren's funeral, which took place Saturday, Dec. 4.
"When I stood up to clear up a few things, I was facing wall-to wall people. Two thousand of them. She touched so many people."
