The RCMP's top cop in Prince George will be leaving her post on April 29.

Dates have not been confirmed until now for the departure of Supt. Brenda Butterworth-Carr, although it has been known for several weeks that she had been promoted to a position in Ottawa.

She will be installed this spring as Chief Superintendent and officer in charge of the RCMP's National Aboriginal Police Services department.

The date of her departure were set once her home in Prince George sold, and this has just happened, according to an RCMP statement on Wednesday.

To replace Butterworth-Carr, incoming Supt. Eric Stubbs has come to Prince George already and purchased a home in anticipation of his first day on the job.

He begins duties here during the first week of June as commander of the northern capital's detachment.

His most recent posting was in Terrace as commander of that detachment.

Filling the gap between April 29 and early June will be acting commander Staff Sgt. Brad Anderson.

Another key position is also vacant at the Prince George detachment, that of Operations Officer. That will be filled by incoming Insp. Keith Redl who is scheduled to arrive here before the end of June, according to Prince George RCMP.

Anderson is also the acting commander of that department in the interim.
