Friday, Nov. 30
Thimbleberry issue No. 3 launch
Thimbleberry is Prince George's premiere and only arts magazine. It was founded last year by Northern poets and educators Rob Budde and Kara-Lee MacDonald. The launch will feature poets and story-tellers from the issue reading their work. Art by AnneRose Georgeson, who painted the image on the cover of the magazine, will be on display at the Arts Centre. The event is taking place at the Omineca Arts Centre, starting at 7 p.m.
Fuggles & Warlock Tap Takeover: Kask
Downtown's only test kitchen and bar are kicking off a tap takeover! The bar will be exclusively serving beer from Fuggles & Warlock, a brewery from Richmond, B.C. Many of the beers are wildly experimental; flavours include strawberry belgian witbier, a plum sour and a sour cranberry. For beers like no other, head to Kask on Fifth Avenue downtown, tonight.
Nechako Community Theatrics Society presents Treasure Island
This family-friendly retelling of a classic tale of high seas and even higher stakes will be sure to thrill even the most dedicated landlubber.
The show runs from Nov. 30 to Dec. 8. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $10 for children. Curtain is at 6 p.m. at the Artspace above Books & Company, 1685 Third Ave.
Saturday, Dec. 1
The Prince George Farmers’ Market
As the 12 days of Christmas draw ever nearer, head to the downtown farmers’ market for some handmade, locally sourced gifts, or gift yourself some local produce, jams, jellies or breads. The market is located at 1310 Third Ave. and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
École Duchess Park Craft Fair
For more handmade and locally sourced crafts and goods, head to the École Duchess Park Craft Fair! There will be more than 60 vendors and 100 tables. This is a fundraiser for the school's Me To We student group, which is dedicated to creating local and global change. The fair will take place at 747 Winnipeg St. from the 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., as well as the day after.
Artisan Fair 2018
And the collection of craft fairs continues! This fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Two Rivers Gallery on Canada Games Way downtown, near the Civic Centre. The Artisan Fair aims to sell gifts for your artsier friends and family. Think high-end items, like paintings, pottery, felted clothing or First Nations art.
How The Grinch Stole Christmas: A Choral Reading
For those interested in getting young family members acquainted with Christmas culture, Nove Voce Choral Society is doing a sung version of How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Bring your wee ones to hear the tale of Dr. Seuss' famed green curmudgeon, and have your heart grow three sizes as you are reminded of the true reasons for the season. Head to Room 208 in the Prince George Civic Centre downtown at 10 a.m.
Public Skating
Bring your family and friends for a turn around the rink this weekend! Helmets required for skaters under 18. Skates and helmet rentals, as well as skate-sharpening, are available. It's all happening at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Saturday and from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Blackburn Community Association Christmas Fair
The Blackburn Community Association hosts its annual Christmas fair! Come check out local and direct vendors and get a kick-start on your holiday shopping. Stop by 2451 Blackburn Rd., 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
William Kuklis at Nancy O's Restaurant
This powerhouse local singer-songwriter brings his emotional tunes and presence to this favourite downtown haunt. Show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $10. The restaurant is at 1261 Third Ave.
Bel Canto Choirs Winter Concert
Join Bel Canto Choirs for their annual winter concert. Songs in the style of pop, rock, classical, and musicals will be sung. Hope, peace, joy and love will be the themes of the evening. Details: 7 to 9 p.m., Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 3590 Dufferin Ave. Tickets are $15 adults and $10 for children.

Caledonia Ramblers' snowshoe
The Caledonia Ramblers hiking club is hoping you join them on an 18-kilometre hike at 8 a.m. This rated easy-moderate trail will go follow the Greenway trail from UNBC out to Otway, and will require a vehicle shuttle. Participants should bring proper rain gear and footwear, as well as snacks and a water bottle. Participants should meet 10 minutes before the departure time at city hall, and bring $2 for the shuttle.
Scrabble Sunday at Books & Company
What's seven letters for a fun and oft-frustrating vocabulary-focused board game? Come down to Books & Company, have a latte, and challenge fellow wordsmiths for the battle to be the supreme word nerd. Former Vancouver Scrabble Club director John Aitkens will be directing the action all throughout. Best part? There's no fee to participate. The event is on from 1 to 3 p.m.
