Warm, sunny and stable weather is in store for Prince George starting on Thursday, but there’s a strong likelihood of a storm before the calm.
Environment Canada has issued a thunderstorm warning for this afternoon
Meteorologists have been tracking a line of severe thunderstorms heading our way which are capable of producing lightning strikes, very strong wind gusts, nickel-size hail and heavy rain.
Heavy downpours can cause flash flooding and water pooling on roads, while hail can damage property and cause injury. So stay indoors if you can
There’s a 40 per cent chance of showers this afternoon and early evening before the clouds dissipate. The high today is expected to reach 19 C, four degrees cooler than normal for this time of year.
We should get back to more seasonal temperatures on Thursday as a high-pressure ridge takes hold of the province – just in time for the B.C. Day long weekend.
No rain is in the Prince George forecast for the next six days and campgrounds will likely fill up now that the campfire ban is being lifted across the northern half of the province, starting Thursday at noon.
The high for Thursday and Friday will reach 22 C and 23 C, climbing to 27 C on Saturday and 28 C Sunday and Monday. Sunny skies will prevail until Sunday evening, when a few cloudy periods are expected and that will continue with a mix of sun and cloud Monday and Tuesday.
Lows will range from 6C Friday morning to 11 C on Sunday.
