Another bout of severe thunderstorms is in the forecast for the city
Environment Canada issued a notice early Thursday morning saying conditions are favourable for the phenomenon. It follows on the heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning on Wednesday night.
"The strong upper ridge of high pressure has moved into Alberta which has caused the airmass to become moist and unstable over the BC Interior," Environment Canada said.
"The main thunderstorm threat will be rainfall rates of up to 25 mm in one hour due to the slow motion of the storms.
"In northeast BC the threat of severe thunderstorms should be confined near the Rockies where there is also the risk of wind gusts up to 90 km/h."
Meanwhile, the City of Prince George closed all of the city sport fields Thursday morning as a precaution to prevent turf damage and player injury.
The closures are not expected to be lifted until Friday at the earliest.
City crews are also out today clearing drains and removing debris from local streets after last night's storm.
