The margin increased, and three-year terms were clearly confirmed as the preferred choice of B.C.'s elected officials in local government.
When delegates at the Union of B.C. Municipalities convention cast their ballots on Thursday, it was essentially a do-over from the day before. A standing vote was conducted on Wednesday on the question of whether local government officials should be voted in for three-year or four-year terms. The three-year side won by a score of 268 to 244 but a long argument ensued over correct process. It was eventually decided to vote again, this time with written ballots.
When this was conducted Thursday morning, the score came out much wider than many had anticipated. The three-year supporters numbered 354 while the four-supporters numbered 280.
