Three Prince George flights marked for COVID-19 exposure over holidays

BCCDC says Air Canada, WestJet, Flair Airlines routes impacted

A trio of flights between Christmas and New Year's involving Prince George may have been exposed to COVID-19.

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) has listed three routes on three different airlines this evening (Jan. 7), including two arriving at YXS and one departing from the local airport.

Passengers on Air Canada's Boxing Day (Dec. 26) flight 8213 from Vancouver to YXS, WestJet flight 3277 from Vancouver to YXS on Dec. 30 and Flair Airlines' New Year's Eve (Dec. 31) flight 8712 from Prince George to YVR are being asked to self-monitor themselves for potential symptoms.

Rows seven to 13 are impacted for the Air Canada service, and rows 13 to 19 for both WestJet and Flair.

Since March 27, 2020, passengers seated near a case of COVID-19 that was recognized after arrival are no longer being directly notified of their potential exposure, but are asked to check online and monitor their symptoms.

Today, 64 new COVID-19 infections were reported in Northern Health for a regional total of 2,338 since the pandemic began.

This includes 32 virus-linked deaths, 16 people in critical care among 38 hospitalizations, and 1,859 recoveries.
