Three people were killed in Thursday morning's head-on collision on Highway 97 just south of Quesnel.
The crash killed a 48-year-old Kelowna man who was driving a northbound pickup truck that crossed the centreline and two occupants of a sport utility vehicle it struck, a 73-year-old woman from New Hazelton, who was the driver, and a 70-year-old woman from Kelowna.
"At the time of the crash, there was extensive fog in the area, and visibility was limited," RCMP said.
All three died at the scene of the crash, which occurred shortly after 7 a.m., and names will not be released until next of kin have been notified.
The stretch of Highway 97 where the collision occurred remained closed as of 2 p.m., however, a detour remained in place from Redbluff Road to Maple Drive to Highway 97.
- A vehicle incident has closed Highway 16 in both directions at the B.C.-Alberta border, according to Drive BC. It's expected to reopen at 4 p.m.
And a vehicle incident 10 kilometres west of Burns Lake has reduced Highway 16 to single lane only for that stretch as of 3 p.m.
