Three arrested, shots fired in Prince George takedown

No one injured, area of Winnipeg Street and Fourth Avenue closed to traffic

The vicinity of Winnipeg Street and Fourth Avenue was the scene of a wild takedown on Monday afternoon.

A police vehicle was rammed and shots were fired as three people failed to evade capture by the RCMP.

The incident began shortly after 2 p.m., when a Prince George RCMP officer attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle only to see it take off and then ram a second RCMP vehicle in the area of 10th Avenue and Carney Street.

"Police officers flooded the area in search of the suspect vehicle, which was located near Ross Crescent and Fifth Avenue," Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said.

"After colliding with a police car at this location, three suspects fled the area on foot. Police followed the suspects and shots were fired by police during the encounter. After a short foot pursuit, all three suspects were located by police and arrested without further incident"

The public is asked to stay away from the areas of Fifth Avenue and Winnipeg Street and from Fourth Avenue and Edmonton Street, which are currently cordoned off to allow investigators to process the scene

No injuries have been reported. Names of the  suspects were not released and charges remain pending.
