A strange occurrance about 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 31 happened in Osoyoos when an intruder entered a residence and has some discussion with two male occupants. The intruder, who had entered through an unlocked door, then pulled out a can of bear spray, forced one of occupants into his own vehicle, and left travelling west on Highway 3.

The 20-year-old victim was able to contact his mother with two text massages - the first saying he was kidnapped, and the second simply saying `help'.

The victim's mother, who was in Kelowna, contacted Operational Communications Center advising of the message received and gave a description of her son's vehicle and licence plate.

The vehicle was located and stopped about 4 p.m. on Highway 3 near Cawston.

The victim was located unharmed in the vehicle and a 49-year-old male of Vancouver was arrested.

He was to appear in court Feb. 1 on charges of break & enter, forcible confinement, theft over $5,000 and possession of a weapon.
