Northern Health has issued a tender for its new learning and development centre, which will be built on the site of the University Hospital of Northern B.C.
The $9.86 million facility will house a library, lecture hall and simulation laboratory and will be used by medical students and residents working out of the hospital. The 1,365-square-metre building will incorporate video conference technology to allow students to connect with seminars going on in other parts of the province.
When the facility's business plan was approved in the spring, Northern Health chairman Charles Jago called the learning centre "the final physical piece of the Northern Medical Program."
The tender competition will close on Sept. 12. The building is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
