Telus is seeking provincial government permission to erect a cell tower on Crown land between Fort Fraser and Fraser Lake.
The company has submitted an application to the Integrated Land Management Bureau to put up a 60-metre tower at Myers Pit, just east of Beaumont Provincial Park, about 145 kilometres west of Prince George.
The proposal is part of a plan to expand wireless coverage in the area, Telus spokesperson Shawn Hall said, adding it will be at least two years before any work is carried out.
"We receive regular requests for coverage in the area, we certainly understand the importance of it, and we're beginning that process," Hall said.
