Telus Care-A-Van supporting Spirit of the North

Telus' Care-A-Van has rolled into the city and its crew is out performing random acts of kindness.

Telus' Care-A-Van has rolled into the city and its crew is out performing random acts of kindness.

The van arrived on Wednesday and will be here until Sunday, hosting events and encouraging residents to support the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.

If you see the Care-a-Van or TELUS crew, you're encouraged to snap a picture and share it on your favourite social media platform using #actsofcaring. For every share on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag, TELUS will donate $5 to Spirit of the North, up to $10,000.

In turn, the money will go towards the purchase of a $1.4-million diagnostic SPECT CT scanner for the University Hospital of Northern B.C.

The crew has been out helping out - from dropping off coffee and donuts at local offices, including the Citizen, to packing grocery bags and helping shoppers to their car to going door-to-door to visit some of their longest-standing customers to thank them personally with care packages.

They'll be hosting a barbecue this Saturday at the Civic Centre from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A cheque will be presented to Spirit of the North at that time.
